How to Become a Cloud Engineer

  1. Gain Proficiency in a Cloud Computing Platform

If you're starting from scratch, there are many resources that you can find on the internet for free to get a basic understanding of each of the major cloud computing platforms (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform) and which certification you should pursue first. To gain a basic understanding of each platform there are virtual videos/trainings through Linkedin Learning or You Tube. You can try Linkedin Learning free for 30 days by clicking here.

If you already have a basic understanding go straight to Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform. You can earn industry recognized cloud certifications through each platform.

2. Learn Programming Languages

Cloud computing requires more data-oriented programming languages, such as Python, Java, and Clojure. You can use blogs, videos, online/offline classes, Linkedin Learning etc. There is something for everyone at all skill levels.

3. Specializing

Storage and networking - You will need to understand where you can store data and how to access this. AWS and Azure .

Virtualization and Operating Systems - Public clouds OS-agnostic, so you should have a good grasp of Windows and Linux operating systems.

Cybersecurity and Recovery
